Report: Fear of blood is the irrational fear that bothers Ohioans the most

Do you have a fear of clowns, needles, blood, or…patterned holes? There are an infinite number of irrational fears–or phobias–and in the spirit of Halloween, we wanted to know which one is plaguing each state the most.

The data team at Your Local Security just released its latest installment of America’s Top-Searched Phobias in 2019.

The phobia plaguing Ohio is: Hemophobia

Here are a few freaky facts from our report:

  • Fear of holes—or trypophobia—had the highest search volume of any term we analyzed, taking first place as this year’s most popular phobia.
  • Texans have plenty of reason to feel some snake fears. The Lone Star State has more snake species than any other state except Arizona.
  • Residents in Iowa, Utah, and West Virginia searched most for fear of clowns, or Coulrophobia. Perhaps Pennywise in IT Chapter Two contributes to an uptick in aversion to these face-painted comedians.
