Matt Stafford strong favorite to be named Super Bowl MVP

(ODDSCHECKER.COM) – A QB has been named Super Bowl MVP in four of the last 5 years. It’s become a tradition to expect the best QB in the biggest game of the year to take home the honor. This year, the expectation is that will be Matt Stafford.

The Rams QB is given very strong +120 odds, or an implied 45.5% chance to be named Super Bowl MVP. Joe Burrow is second on the odds market at +230, or an implied 30.3% chance. A distant third on the market is superstar WR Cooper Kupp at +700, or an implied 12.5% chance.

Since 2000 only four defenders have won the award. Oddsmakers aren’t expecting a change. Aaron Donald is given the best odds of any defender at +2500, or an implied 3.8% chance. No Bengals defender is currently on the odds market.

Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “The Super Bowl MVP odds market really tells it all. There’s 11 players on the market, but only 3 play for the Bengals. It’s almost as if oddsmakers are preparing for a Rams win before the game is even played. Will oddsmakers regret sleeping on the Bengals?”
